How High Sugar Causes Damage

CHEMED Diabetes Care Management

Updated: Aug 1, 2022

Sugar can be thought of as a crystal.

When there is too much sugar/glucose in the blood, it ends up floating in the veins, scratching at the walls of the vein causing damage. Other things in the blood such as lipids/cholesterol, cause congestion.

The congestion can cause blockage.

Ways to lower risk of damage:
Maintain A1C Goal
Healthy Diet
Increase Physical Activity
Control Blood Pressure
